Excimer laser treatment is well tolerated and effective in over 80 percent of cases of facial vitiligo. Having taken your medical history, the doctor will proceed with a clinical examination of the discoloured patches on your skin in order to establish if laser treatment is right for you. The doctor will then explain your treatment plan and address any doubts or fears you may have.
Procedure
After your first consultation, all you have to do is come to Clinic Lémanic for your first appointment. The procedure is painless and does not require anaesthesia. You will be given protective eyewear. Having calibrated the machine, we then proceed by sweeping the affected area with the laser. The nature of the laser technology means that the sessions are generally short. Depending on the extent of the areas marked for treatment, the session may last 15 minutes or more.
Post treatment
Following the session, you can return to your normal activities immediately. In general, patients return for treatment twice a week. Results will begin to show after one month.

For its full effects to be realised, the treatment generally requires a minimum of 8 to 10 sessions for the face and 16 to 20 for the body. With two sessions a week repigmentation becomes visible after 3 to 4 weeks.
