The laser emits a light that is absorbed by the root of the hair follicles and targets melanin (the substance that gives hair its colour). The laser emits the exact temperature for the correct duration to specifically target the root of the hair without damaging surrounding skin cells. This process is called selective photothermolysis.
Clinic Lémanic has a range of laser epilation systems that are among the highest performing on the market today. These allow us to treat hair on light, dark and even black skin. Advances in the technology allow us to epilate even large surfaces rapidly.
Things to note about laser hair removal
After the session, your skin will be completely smooth and free of hair. However, only hair that has been in its active growth phase at the time of the laser session, is removed permanently. Since not all hair is actively growing at the same time, you will need to return for several sessions at specific intervals mirroring this rhythm of growth to permanently destroy all the follicles so that the hair never grows again in the targeted area
Every patient’s treatment plan will differ slightly owing to differences in pigmentation, subtle variations of colour, and the density of the hair in the treatment area but it usually takes between six and twelve sessions for facial hair and four to eight sessions for body hair to obtain the best results.
We often see patients who come to us after already trying intense pulsed light (IPL) hair removal in non-medical settings like at the cosmetologist. This makes it more difficult for us to completely remove the unwanted hair. At Clinic Lémanic we always recommend laser hair removal, from the beginning, for the best results.
