Creating the hair prosthesis

The CNC® system uses a 39-step process, from the creation of the mould to the application of the prosthesis to the scalp of the patient. Morphological analysis of the patient’s scalp using high-tech scanners and 3D printing of an identical replica of the cranium produces a perfectly customised prosthesis.

The prosthesis is then hand-made by specialist artisans. They are made of antibacterial medical-grade polymer which is heat, humidity, and sweat resistant. Natural European hair is then sewn by hand on to this second polymer skin which is perfectly matched to the skin tone of your own scalp. The hair is carefully selected to match the colour and type of the patient’s hair and matches the way your hair follicles naturally grow.

Once the manufacture of the prosthesis is complete, it is applied to the affected area of the cranium, restoring a full head of hair and ensuring that the skin can breathe normally.

At the first consultation the specialist doctor will make a diagnosis of your alopecia and discuss your needs and goals. This will determine whether the hair prosthesis system is right for you or whether other treatment options should be considered in your case. You will also be able to ask any questions and clear up any doubts or fears you may have.

Before the procedure begins you will receive a detailed quote. If you choose to accept the quote, the procedure of fitting you for a prosthesis can begin.

Before treatment

A specialist will analyse the shape of your cranium using a high-tech 3D scanner which measures the treatment zone and the colour and nature of your hair and skin in order to manufacture a 100% customised product.

The 39-step manufacture process is patented and ISO 9001 certified. It combines medical know-how with skilled craftsmanship. Around 5 months after the measurements are taken, your prosthesis will be delivered to the clinic and you can make an appointment for your fitting.

In urgent cases, such as chemotherapy patients, the process can be expedited to one month.

Procedure

The prosthesis is applied to the area affected by hair loss. One of the professional hair stylists at the clinic will proceed by giving you the cut of your choice so you can leave with a perfect hairstyle immediately.

The CNC® prosthesis allows you to enjoy your new hair immediately after application. The use of natural hair and the fine workmanship that goes into producing the prosthesis at every stage ensures that it will blend seamlessly with your own hair. You will leave with a high-quality, natural and beautifully textured head of hair.

Post-treatment

Once a month you will return to the Expert Hair Centre at Clinic Lémanic for maintenance of your CNC® prosthesis. The maintenance will be carried out by professionals at the clinic. The prosthesis will simply be removed, maintenance will be performed, and it will then be reapplied. The process takes about the same time as a haircut. You will also be able to restyle the hair if you wish.
