The Dermatology Centre at Clinic Lémanic treats conditions and tumours of the skin and related structures (hair and nails) from diagnosis to medical or surgical treatment. We treat patients of all ages: men, women, teens and children.

The Centre is headed by DrVéronique Emmenegger MD, FMH (Swiss Medical Association) double specialisation in dermatology-venereology and allergology-clinical immunology, with 25 years of experience. She is also specialised in phlebology SSMV (Swiss Society for Vascular Surgery) and medical lasers FMCH (Swiss Surgeons Association).

Dr Emmenegger is supported by a team of motivated and experienced FMH certified doctors who are prepared to answer any questions you may have and perform an diagnostic assessment of your health.

Medical consultations are invoiced at Swiss procedure code (TARMED) rates and qualifying individuals can be reimbursed by Swiss national medical insurance (LAMal).

International patients with foreign medical insurance are required to pay from their own funds. Please contact our secretary for further information.

We suggest you come to your consultation prepared so you do not forget to tell the doctor anything that might be relevant to your case. Think about your problem carefully. The doctor will ask you about your symptoms, when and how your problem started, and how it has evolved over time. He or she will want to find out about your family history (whether either of your parents suffered from the same condition or symptoms as you), your medical and surgical history and about your general health. The doctor will ask you about any medication you take and about your exposure to any harsh environments. The doctor will want to know what cosmetic products you use to care for your skin as these can often be linked to skin problems. The doctor will then go on to observe the skin locally (only the face or a part of the body) or generally (the whole body). The doctor might make use of instruments like a magnifying glass, a camera or a calliper to measure the size of moles.

Dermoscopy might be necessary to more closely examine the skin. This test makes use of a dermascope, a device with a lens which emits a polarising light. Dermoscopy is painless and risk free.

A cutaneous biopsy may be necessary to reach a diagnosis depending on the type of condition. In this case, the doctor will excise a tiny tissue sample which will be tested further. This procedure may be necessary to confirm the presence of a suspected pathology. A biopsy sample can be drawn by needle or smear from any type of human tissue. It is fast and generally painless.

What does a dermatologist do?
